How Will You Train at FAF?

At Fit After 50, our primary objective is to meet you at your current physical state and guide you towards becoming a stronger and healthier version of yourself. While "typical" senior group exercises/classes certainly have their benefits, they alone cannot transform you from a frail and unstable individual into an "Aging Athlete." To achieve this, you will need to engage in exercises that not only challenge you physically but also mentally. This means stepping out of your comfort zone and attempting movements that may be unfamiliar to you, such as squats, deadlifts, presses, and their variations. However, it is important to note that you will not immediately jump into these exercises if you are not yet capable of performing them. Instead, you will start with other somewhat similar movements that will prepare your body for the more complex exercise movements. This approach is similar to how a doctor prescribes medicine to their patients, tailoring the dosage to suit their individual needs. To ensure your safety and continued progress, our knowledgeable and attentive coaches will play a crucial role in guiding you through this process.

Your training program will primarily focus on the movements mentioned earlier, as they form the basis of your program. In addition, we will introduce some "functional" movements to your routine, which will not only improve your overall fitness but also make your training sessions more enjoyable. And let's be honest, squatting, deadlifting, and pressing are already pretty fun on their own. To add some extra excitement, we might incorporate activities like carrying heavy sandbags or using a sledgehammer to smash a tire, among other options. These exercises will not only push you physically but also bring a sense of "thrill" to your workouts.

Conversely, individuals who are already in good physical condition will have a slightly higher starting point compared to those who need more focused attention. Nevertheless, the exercises and techniques employed will remain consistent, albeit at a more advanced stage. Irrespective of your present fitness level, one thing is definite: you will be challenged to your maximum potential, exert great effort, and witness substantial advancements throughout your fitness journey.
